A ceremony commemorating the day that is annually observed on October 28, the birthday of Master Jigoro Kano, the man who founded judo, was conducted in the Šumice Sports Center, the location where judo contests are traditionally held.
On the occasion of World Judo Day, young judokas from Vranje who are a part of the big Judo in School project, implemented in this city at Radoje Domanovic Elementary School, gathered in Belgrade with their peers from the other eight schools in Serbia who are a part of this program.
The first year of the project's implementation was also marked by a sizable public judo class in which students from Vranje also took part. The project was implemented under the auspices of the Ministry of Youth and Sports of Serbia, the Judo Federation of Serbia, the International Judo Federation, and in Vranje under the auspices of the local self-government with the support of the member of the City Council for Sports and Youth, Nenad Đorđević and Radoje Domanović elementary school.
