“Plivanjac -Igranjac” project

The “Plivanjac igranjac – SVIMBO“ project was implemented in the period of 16 July to 31 August, 2022, with the support of the Secretariat for Sport and Youth of Belgrade.

The project is intended for children with disabilities from regular and special schools aged 7 to 14, as well as from day care centers for children and youth with disabilities (the population of children who do not go to school due to the inability to attend IEP 1 and 2 programs).

In addition to the adoption of basic exercises for staying afloat in water, with the ultimate goal of adopting a specific swimming technique depending on the user's psychophysical capabilities, the program will include Halliwick training, i.e. therapeutic swimming in the water, which primarily involves relaxation, and the emphasis is on enjoying the water, maintaining balance in the water, working in a group, socializing, various games in the water that encourage children to become independent, gain self-confidence and continue with classic swimming training.

Supportive therapeutic methods, such as the Halliwick rehabilitation method, are based on using different treatment media (relaxation, creative imagination and visualization, therapeutic breathing, positive thoughts and affirmation).

All coaches implementing this program have been licensed in our country for the Halliwick swimming concept, and the implementing coaches were a certified swimming coach and a bachelor of coaching and PE, with many years of experience of working with this population in the pool.

The project was implemented at the pool of Laza Kostić Elementary, 72 Milentija Popovića, Novi Beograd-

The program lasted from 1 July, 2022 to 31 August, 2022, with the following schedule: Wednesday 16:00-17.30h, and Friday 15:00-16:30h.
